Bankruptcy trustee taps Boston behemoth to acquire part of The Kane Co.
2 hours, 41 minutes ago (at
Iron Mountain Information Management LLC, part of Boston-based Iron Mountain Inc. (IRM), has reached a deal to acquire Kane Office Archives LLC, an affiliate of what had been Greater Washington's largest office mover, for $415,000 as the Elkridge-based Kane Co. is wound down following its abrupt bankruptcy last month . Crowell & Moring LLP attorney Monique Almy, the trustee overseeing Kane's Chapter 7 cases, filed a motion with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Baltimore on Thursday seeking permission to sell Archives, its customer contracts, digital and tape inventory, files, books and other property held by the company. The sale is not entirely surprising, as it's something Kane CEO John Kane alluded to without naming Iron Mountain, a $3 billion company that stores records and provides information management services to 170,000 customers, as the buyer when he announced plans to wind down the second-generation business Dec. 8.
