1. ENTRY: No purchase necessary. You must be 18 years of age or older to be eligible for this contest. Limit one contest account per person. The Investment Challenge begins July 1, 2001 at 12:01 AM Pacific Time and ends at 3:29:59 PM Eastern Time on July 31, 2001 (i.e. 30 minutes before the end of the final trading day on the New York Stock Exchange for the month of July, 2001. To enter, register for the contest on the entry page. If you do not currently have a Yahoo! account, you will be directed to create one for free in order to enter the contest online. LIMIT ONE ENTRY PER PERSON. Entries will only be accepted online.

No responsibility is assumed by Yahoo! or its advertisers for lost, late, misdirected, or illegible entries or for any computer, online, telephone or technical malfunctions that may occur. Entries will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet Access provider, on-line service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution etc.) that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address. All entries become the property of Yahoo! and will not be returned to entrant. Potential winner may be requested to provide Sponsor with proof that the potential winner is the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the winning entry.

2. WINNER SELECTION. Each entrant will receive $100,000 in fantasy money, with which fantasy stock trades can be made. Contestants will be ranked according to the value of their fantasy portfolio. The top contestant(s), according to the final standings, will win the prizes listed on the help page in order of their rank. THE POSTING OF A CONTESTANT'S FANTASY PORTFOLIO AS A CONTEST LEADER DOES NOT NECESSARILY INDICATE THAT THE CONTESTANT HAS WON A PRIZE; POTENTIAL WINNERS ARE SUBJECT TO VERIFICATION AND MUST MEET ALL ELIGIBILTY REQUIREMENTS BEFORE A PRIZE WILL BE AWARDED. To be eligible to win prizes, you must have completed the Registration Form. Contestants who fail to make fantasy trades may still be eligible for prizes.

Each day the standings and fantasy account values, along with a snapshot of the holdings of the top twenty portfolios will be displayed.

Ties will be broken using the Tiebreaker question on the Final Rounds entry page: amongst those tied in rank, the person who is closest to predicting the Dow Jones Industrial Average value at the close of the New York Stock Exchange on the last trading day of that month. If a tie still exists between one or more contestants, a winner will be chosen based on which entrant registered for the contest first.

Potential winners will be notified by email, phone and/or FedEx within 14 days of determination. If a winner is unreachable after 7 days, or if that winner is unavailable for prize fulfillment, an alternate winner will be selected according to the standings from all remaining eligible entries received. Potential winners must execute, notarize, and return an Affidavit of Eligibility/Prize Acceptance Form/Release of liability within 7 days of notification. Noncompliance within this time period, or return of any prize/prize notification as undeliverable may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner. If Yahoo! cannot find an eligible winner for a prize, that prize will not be awarded.

 

3. PRIZES: No substitution of prizes is permitted except by Yahoo!.. Yahoo! reserves the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal or greater value. Prizes will be distributed according to final rankings, subject to verification, as follows:
• At the end of each month, winners will be determined by fantasy portfolio value (net worth of securities plus cash in each fantasy portfolio).
• Each month, prizes will be awarded as follows:
1. The top finisher will be awarded a $5,000 Cash Prize.
2. The second place finisher will be awarded a $3,000 Cash Prize.
3. The third place finisher will be awarded a $2,000 Cash Prize.
   
   
4. ELIGIBILITY: This contests is open to legal residents of the United States or Canada (void in the province of Quebec), who are eighteen (18) years or older at the time of entry. Employees of Yahoo!, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies and the immediate family members of each are not eligible.
   
   
5. GENERAL CONDITIONS: Contest entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of the contest commissioners which are final on all matters pertaining to the contest. This Contest is governed by the laws of the United States. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Yahoo! reserves the right to terminate or modify the contest in its sole discretion. All taxes, fees, and surcharges on prizes are the sole responsibility of the prize winner.

Entrants further grant to Yahoo! the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the Contest, except where prohibited by law. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for Yahoo!, and its advertising and promotional agencies to use winners' names and likenesses for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation unless prohibited by law. By entering, participants release and hold harmless Yahoo!, its subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents from any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with the Contest or any prize won. 7. CONDUCT: By entering this Contest, you agree to be bound by these Official Rules. The Official Rules will be posted at the Contest Site throughout the Contest. Entrants further agree to be bound by the decisions of the contest commissioners which shall be final and binding in all respects. Yahoo! reserves the right at their sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the game or website; to be acting in violation of the Official Rules; or to be acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY A CONTESTANT OR ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE GAME IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or authorized access to, or alteration of, entries. Sponsor is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line-systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of email or players on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Website or combination thereof, including injury or damage to participants or to any computer related to or resulting from participating or downloading materials in this Contest. If, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Yahoo! which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Contest, Yahoo! reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest.
