* The Project Enables the Supervision and Control of the High-speed
   Railway Line Installations That Will Connect Barcelona and Figueras

MADRID, Spain, Oct. 2, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Telvent (NasdaqGS:TLVT - News), the IT company for a sustainable and secure world, announced today that the Spanish infrastructure administrator, (known as Adif in Spanish), has awarded the company the contract to install the power control system along the Barcelona-Figueras railway line to connect the high-speed Madrid-Zaragoza-Barcelona railway line and the French border.

The project includes the design, development, installation and maintenance of the power control system to be completed in 2009. The Telvent power control system will allow better energy efficiency levels for the railway line and will also help reduce energy consumption, supporting Adif's goal of providing sustainable transportation systems.

The installation of devices to control high voltage line and proper system operation will enable adequate control and ongoing prevention maintenance of the system, increasing the security along the130 kilometers of the new high speed railway line.

Ignacio Gonzalez Dominguez, Executive Vice-President of Telvent's Energy division, pointed out that ``this contract reinforces Telvent's position and consolidates its leadership position in the field of advanced applications for operational control and management for high speed railway lines.''
