| Raven Industries, Inc., together with its subsidiaries, manufactures various products for industrial, agricultural, construction, and military/aerospace markets in North America. It operates in four segments: Engineered Films, Flow Controls, Electronic Systems, and Aerostar. The Engineered Films segment produces rugged reinforced plastic sheeting for industrial, construction, and agricultural applications. It sells plastic sheeting to independent third-party distributors through its sales force. The Flow Controls segment offers electronic speed and global positioning system-based, location compensated application control products, which are used primarily for precision farming applications and marine navigation. It also offers products for field location control, chemical injection, and automated steering. This segment sells flow control devices directly to original equipment manufacturers and independent third-party distributors. The Electronic Systems segment offers electronics manufacturing services for commercial customers. It manufactures avionics, communication, environmental controls, and other products. The Aerostar segment sells high altitude aerostats for public and commercial research, military parachutes, and specialty outerwear for security forces. It also manufactures other sewn and sealed products on a contract basis. In addition, this segment produces uniforms and protective wear for the United States government agencies as a subcontractor. Raven Industries, Inc. was founded in 1956 and is headquartered in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. |
