APP Pharmaceuticals, Inc. develops, manufactures, and markets injectable pharmaceutical products. The company’s oncology products include Carboplatin for the treatment of advanced ovarian carcinoma and for the palliative treatment of recurrent ovarian carcinoma after prior chemotherapy; Doxorubicin for use in adjuvant therapy for the treatment of breast cancer; Fludarabine for the treatment of adult patients with B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia; Fluorouracil, a part of a class of drugs known as ‘antineoplastics’, which are used in the treatment of various cancers to slow or stop the growth of cancer cells; Ifosfamide, a chemotherapy drug used to treat germ cell testicular cancer; and Mesna, which is used to treat the side effects associated with certain chemotherapy drugs. Its anti-infective product line consists of Ampicillin that treats various infections of the skin, central nervous system, heart, respiratory tract, sinuses, ear, and kidney; Ampicillin and Sulbactam, an injectable antibacterial combination for the treatment of various skin and skin structure, intra-abdominal, and gynecological infections; Azithromycin for the treatment of community-acquired pneumonia and pelvic inflammatory disease; Cefotetan for surgical prophylaxis; and Vancomycin, which is used to treat various Staph, Strep, or other infections. The company’s critical care products comprise Diprivan for the induction of general anesthesia in adult and pediatric patients; Heparin that is used to prevent and treat blood clotting during and after surgery; Naropin for the production of anesthesia for surgery and for acute pain management; and Oxytocin, which is used to induce labor at term and control postpartum bleeding. Its sells its products through sales force and specialty distributors to hospitals, long-term care facilities, alternate care sites, clinics, and doctors in North America. APP Pharmaceuticals was founded in 1996 and is based in Schaumburg, Illinois.
