| Leggett & Platt, Incorporated engages in the design and production of a range of engineered components and products worldwide. It operates in four segments: Residential Furnishings; Commercial Fixturing and Components; Industrial Materials; and Specialized Products. The Residential Furnishings segment offers bedding products, and furniture and consumer products, as well as fabric, foam, and fiber to the manufacturers of finished bedding products and upholstered furniture for residential use. The Commercial Fixturing and Components segment provides fixture and display products, and office furniture components to the retail chains and specialty shops, and brand name marketers and distributors of consumer products, as well as to the office, institutional, and commercial furniture manufacturers. The Industrial Materials segment produces steel rod, drawn wire, and fabricated wire products, such as wire ties to bale cotton; shaped wire for automotive and medical supply applications; tying heads, boxed wire, and parts for automatic baling equipment; coated wire products, including dishwasher racks; and wire retail fixtures and point-of-purchase displays. This segment also offers welded steel tubing and fabricated tube components. The Specialized Products segment designs, produces, and sells manual and power lumbar support and massage systems for automotive seating; seat suspension systems; automotive control cables; low voltage motors and actuation assemblies; formed metal and wire components for seat frames; quilting machines for mattress covers; machines used to shape wire into various types of springs; industrial sewing machines; other equipment for bedding factory automation; van interiors; docking stations that mount computers and other electronic equipment inside vehicles; and specialty trailers used by telephone, cable, and utility companies.
