PHILADELPHIA, PA--(MARKET WIRE)--Nov 10, 2008 -- A perfect treat to sweeten up your winter! Sugar and Spice on Ice will take place on Sunday, February 8 from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Blue Cross RiverRink at Penn's Landing, Columbus Boulevard at Market Street.

Ice skaters and candy lovers will be treated to a special promotion that celebrates sweets! Candy crafts and samples will delight the young and young at heart. Visitors will also have the opportunity to participate in interactive "Sweet Skills" games that will put their skills and love of sweets to the test. From chocolate chip cookie eating contests, cookie dough sculpting to cupcake stacking and Chocolate guessing jars, there will be "sweet" fun for the whole family!

Just in time for Valentine's Day there will also be special edible candy crafts such as Lollipop Puppets and Sugar Art bottles. Guests will also have an opportunity to create conversation heart cards. Free Valentine's themed face painting will add to the excitement and offer something for everyone!

Complimentary sweet samples will be distributed along with the chance to add sugar and spice to culinary demonstrations. Chefs from local Penn's Landing restaurants will perform demonstrations of confections with of course free samples for all who participate! Visitors are able to sample local vendors' sweet treasures and decide which they will purchase to take home to a loved one.

After working off the "sugar rush" by ice skating on the Olympic size skating rink, visitors can catch a few moments of a favorite SWEET film, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," which will be broadcast on the giant video wall to keep within the theme of the weekend.

Sugar and Spice on Ice is a free promotion for the public. Skating sessions during this promotion are $7.00 per person (skate rental is $3.00) and are available from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. and from 3:00 - 5:30 p.m.

Weekend hours at the Blue Cross RiverRink are as follows: Saturday: 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., 8:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m., and 11:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. and Sunday hours are: 12:30 - 2:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Admission is $8 for the 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. sessions on Fridays and Saturdays. Convenient parking is also available on site for only $10.
