PHILADELPHIA, PA--(MARKET WIRE)--Nov 10, 2008 -- A visit to the Blue Cross RiverRink at Penn's Landing becomes a memorable experience with special events and promotions throughout the season. Conveniently located on Columbus Boulevard at Market Street, the Blue Cross RiverRink will host one special event every month that appeals to the young and the young at heart.

Local DJs provide musical motivation for skating every Friday and Saturday night from 9:00 p.m. until 12 Midnight for the 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. sessions and the 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. sessions.

Skate with Santa on Sunday, December 14, 2008. Only at the Blue Cross RiverRink, you can skate with Santa. After a lunch cruise along the Delaware River, the Spirit of Philadelphia will deliver Santa to the Blue Cross RiverRink where he will make his way to the Olympic size rink to skate with visitors. Kids can decorate their own Reindeer Ears to wear as they "skate" with Santa.

Members of the community have the opportunity to see their classmates, sons or daughters perform in "Sunday Night Live." Beginning on Sunday, January 18th, 2009 and continuing through Sunday, February 22nd, 2009, the Blue Cross RiverRink at Penn's Landing will continue the series called "Sunday Night Live." Each Sunday, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., local high school and college bands will be able to showcase their talents. Two bands will perform each week. The traditional (15th Annual) New Year's Eve Midnight Party on Ice takes place on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 with an additional skating session from 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. featuring food, strolling entertainment, party favors, and a great view of the fireworks at Midnight! Skating is the healthy way to enjoy winter! Healthy Kids Fest will be celebrated at the Blue Cross RiverRink on Saturday, January 11, 2009. Free samples of healthy foods will be distributed along with a make and take healthy snack for kids. Parents and Kids will be able to get fitness tips from experts or even try the Winter Workout Obstacle Course. As with all the special events at the Blue Cross RiverRink, there will be free face-painting to add to the celebration.

Tropical Paradise on Ice comes to the Blue Cross RiverRink, just in time to beat the winter blues, on Sunday, January 25, 2009, from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. The Blue Cross RiverRink will be transformed into a tropical island, with a steel drum band and hula dancers, visitors will feel like they are on a vacation. There will be complimentary leis (while supplies last) and hula lessons, along with tropical music and Hawaiian themed videos in the heated pavilion to completely set the mood.

On Sunday, February 8th don't miss Sugar and Spice on Ice at the Blue Cross RiverRink. Ice skaters and candy lovers will be treated to a special weekend that features sweets! Candy crafts and samples for everyone with a sweet tooth! Visitors will also have the opportunity to participate in interactive "Sweet Skills" games that will put their skills and love of chocolate and sweets to the test. The event will also feature cooking demonstrations and candy themed contests and prizes.

Take your sweetheart ice skating on Saturday, February 14th from 8:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. for a special Sweetheart Skating Session. Advance tickets will be available for just $15 at www.riverrink.com. Ladies will receive a complimentary red flower (while supplies last) as they skate with their sweetheart to their favorite love songs played by a live DJ. There will be special sweetheart keepsakes to remember this special evening. The Blue Cross RiverRink at Penn's Landing is a popular destination every year during this romantic holiday!

Regular skating session hours are Monday to Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Friday hours: 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., 8:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m., and 11:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. Saturday hours are: 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., 8:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m., and 11:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. and Sunday hours are: 12:30 - 2:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Special Holiday Hours and other extended sessions are outlined at www.riverrink.com.
