Guests at Ameristar Casino Hotel Spa in St. Charles, Mo., may now buy in for more than $500 at any time and are no longer required to obtain player identification cards before entering the casino floor.

The commission's order was issued at 11 AM ET today, less than three days after Missouri voters approved Proposition A, which reformed a number of provisions in the state's gaming laws.

"Although we didn't expect the Gaming Commission's order to come quite so quickly, we're obviously pleased by its swift action," said Gordon Kanofsky, Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chairman of Ameristar Casinos, Inc. (NasdaqGS:ASCA - News). "Team Members at both of our Missouri properties have been working diligently to make the operational changes necessary to allow guests to enter the casino without the inconvenience of obtaining and displaying a player identification card and to enable them to gamble amounts they are comfortable wagering."

In addition to removing the loss limit and player identification card requirement, the commission's order immediately increases the tax rate Missouri casinos pay to the state from 20 percent to 21 percent. All additional revenues are specifically earmarked for the state's educational system, which is projected to receive more than $100 million annually from the change.

Although Guests will still need to use either an Ameristar Star Awards player's card or a newly instituted "casino entry card," identification is not required to obtain a casino entry card. Either card may be obtained at Star Awards counters near the entrance of the casinos. Guests who appear younger than 30 will be asked for identification to ensure they meet the state's casino entrance minimum age requirement of 21.
