Industrial Minerals appoints George Hawley as Technical Advisor

OTTAWA, CANADA--(MARKET WIRE)--Nov 7, 2008 -- Industrial Minerals Inc. (OTC BB:IDSM.OB - News) has retained George Hawley as Technical Advisor to the Board of Directors and to assist RBC Dominion Capital Markets on its current financial advisory services mandate.

Mr. Hawley has nearly 40 years of experience in the characterization and processing of industrial minerals that meet the technical requirements of consumer industries - including mica, graphite and silica, which are specific to Industrial Mineral's Bissett Creek property. He has conducted projects for government agencies, mining companies in the USA, Canada, Europe, Japan, Australia and Africa, and has published over 50 papers on technical and marketing topics pertaining to industrial minerals products in addition to regularly presenting at global graphite and industrial mineral conferences worldwide.

His work specific to graphite started when he was a Research and Development Chemist for Morgan Crucible Company, then one of the world's largest carbon/graphite product manufacturers. His work focused on research and development and process controls involving graphite products such as rocket nozzles, nuclear graphite, electrical brushes and contacts, electrodes, bearings, brake and clutch facings. He has successfully developed several innovative processes involving graphite and today continues to promote new uses for natural graphite.

Mr. Hawley also served for 10 years as Technical and Marketing Director of Suzorite Mica Products and previously was Manager of the Physical Testing Chemical Analysis Department of Warnock Hersey, Canada's largest testing laboratory at the time.

Industrial Minerals Inc. is developing a world class graphite, phlogopite mica and silica sand mine at Bissett Creek, near North Bay, Canada. Currently there is only one miner/processor of natural graphite and phlogopite mica in North America.
