taken at the
annual meeting of Missouri Chapter-American College of Physicians*.
New
data shows physicians' overwhelming support for the use
of a CCS model --
the fusion of physician interaction, patient healthcare
goals, a personal
health coach, and on-line resources -- to provide extended
personalized
care while decreasing their workload. According to the Collaborative Care Support model survey:
-- 100 percent of physicians agreed or strongly agreed that, with ongoing
attention to patient education and support for behavioral change, CCS has
the potential to improve the quality of care by providing physicians a new
means to encourage lifestyle change and adherence to therapy.
-- 78 percent of physicians agreed or strongly agreed that, with ongoing
attention to patient education and support for behavioral change, CCS has
the potential to improve physician office workflow by reducing the number
of patient phone calls.
"A typical 15-minute doctor's visit yields very little time for physician patient interaction," said Longitude Health's co-founder, Jan Swaney, M.D., who conducted the survey. "With their extreme workload, there's limited opportunity for physicians to ensure patient follow through, let alone oversee and encourage the lifestyle changes needed to set patients on the proper course toward good health.
