Hop-on Questions Sprint's Spin on Google Android OS IRVINE, CA--(MARKET WIRE)--Nov 4, 2008 -- Hop-on (Other OTC:HPNN.PK - News), an innovator and
proponent of low-end cell phones, believes the main reason
Sprint's CEO Dan
Hesse is dissing Google's Android Operating System is not
because it's not
yet "good enough to put the Sprint brand on it," as Hesse
reportedly said,
according to Reuters, but because Sprint will lose market
share. Sprint
has spent billions of dollars on their network and they
don't want to lose
its customer base to an open form platform where the customer
would make
the most calls from. Peter Michaels, President and CEO of Hop-on, asks, "Why doesn't Sprint find a way to embrace the Android platform and find another revenue stream from it? Sprint has made it difficult to bring CDMA technologies from smaller vendors onto their network. CDMA is the best technology in the world, hands down. Hop-on could have brought in a low-end $10 CDMA, minimum, subsidized phone for Sprint, but they didn't allow it. Hop-on is embracing advancing technology, Sprint is not!" The Open Handset Alliance(TM) is a group of more than 30 technology and mobile companies who have come together to accelerate innovation in mobile and offer consumers a richer, less expensive, and better mobile experience. Together we have developed Android(TM), the first complete, open, and free mobile platform. We are committed to commercially deploy handsets and services using the Android Platform. Michaels further stated, "This is their Mission Statement and although Sprint is one of the founding members it has not cooperated in bringing their vision to fruition." Michaels further stated, "Phone companies and these large handset manufacturers have agendas. They are trying to protect themselves in their jurisdictions. Motorola is designing a cable box for homes that would run the Google Android Operating System. It seems Sprint will bypass the Android phone because they are protecting themselves and the billions of dollars they have spent on their network. Of course Sprint is going to say it is not a good product. Of course they are going to protect themselves. Hop-on doesn't have infrastructure costs or the costly overhead. We just make low-end cell phones." Hop-on will have two versions of the Android phone. One will be fully loaded with multi-media and GPS tracking. The other will be a standard Google Android OS phone. Both will utilize the technology developed by Motorola to make calls off the cable modem in your home. Consumers will be able to make free calls on a Virtual Network for phones. "We want to sell our phones to the Cable TV companies, such as Cox and Time-Warner, and even the Satellite TV guys!" said Michaels.
