Amadeus Selling Platform's Agents Now Can Book Amtrak Tickets, Passes and Sleepers

NEWTON, MA--(MARKET WIRE)--Nov 3, 2008 -- Wandrian, Inc. and Amadeus, a leading global technology and distribution partner for the travel and tourism industry, announced a new way for travel agents in the USA to book Amtrak.

The Wandrian-powered, state-of-the-art train booking solution, Amadeus RailAgent, is a web-based point-and-click interface that enables agents to book Amtrak tickets. Because of its user-friendliness, rail bookings are quick, simple and efficient. The system offers complete functionality, including shopping, booking, holding reservations, payments by credit card, retrieving bookings, and online cancellations. In addition to the booking capabilities, the system provides rich content for information on train schedules, routes, accommodations, training programs, the amenities available on each train, as well as tools to help the agents manage their orders, such as accounting reports for bookings and commissions.

The new Amtrak interface is accessible directly from the Amadeus Selling Platform, using the RailAgent tab. After selecting a journey, agents simply enter the credit card, receive an email confirmation, and the booking information is merged back into the PNR within Amadeus. No printing is required: confirmations are emailed to the agent or customer, who can pick up their ticket at the Amtrak station or through the Quick-Trak self service ticketing kiosks. Commission checks are sent out monthly to agents.

"With the inclusion of Amtrak into Amadeus RailAgent, we improve the way agents can book Amtrak through the Amadeus Selling Platform. This is a new era in the relationship between Amadeus and Amtrak," said Diane Bouzebiba, Head of Amadeus Rail. "We will continue in our joint effort to capture the full potential of rail growth in North America."

"It is Wandrian's mission to innovate the best travel technology to enable train travel to be the top of mind choice for agents and consumers," said Bret Gordon, President & CEO at Wandrian. "Building and powering this interface for Amadeus, one of the leading travel distribution companies in the world, is an important step for Wandrian."

Craig White, Senior Director for Amtrak Travel Industry Sales, added, "This rollout is another step in providing the travel agent community the tools to confidently and effectively sell Amtrak services. The booking engine is easy to use and with the support provided by Wandrian, Amadeus and Amtrak, we expect a smooth transition for those travel agencies who have worked with us in the past, as well as an opportunity to aggressively pursue new business."
