Aruba Networks' 802.11n Wireless Network Selected by Tomball Independent School District Twelve Schools in Harris County, Texas, Are Deploying Campus-Wide High Speed Networks SUNNYVALE, CA--(MARKET WIRE)--Oct 21, 2008 -- Aruba Networks, Inc. (ARUN - News), a global
leader in wireless LANs and secure mobility solutions, today
announced that
Tomball Independent School District (ISD) in Harris County,
Texas has
selected Aruba's 802.11n wireless LAN technology and identity-based
security for use across the district's 12 facilities including
elementary,
intermediate, and high schools. Tomball ISD covers more
than 83 square
miles and supports more than 9,700 students and 1,300 faculty
and staff.
The district's technology plan calls for the integration
of technology in
all areas of the curriculum, including a telecommunications
networks
through which all students can share and obtain research.
The legacy
wireless network was not capable of meeting this requirement,
and following
a review of competing solutions, Aruba's 802.11n wireless
LAN was selected
for the project.
"Our district is relatively small compared to the other districts in the area and with our smaller IT staff, it was imperative to find a wireless solution that was easy to manage," said Tom Brawley, Tomball ISD's Director of Technology. "Accordingly, Tomball ISD looked for a solution that would meet our technical requirements and support the large number of wireless devices at our campuses, and Aruba fit that bill perfectly. A growing number of school districts around the Houston area have selected Aruba because it is easy to set up, and can be remotely diagnosed, centrally managed, and upgraded over the network without requiring a truck roll. Tomball ISD is looking forward to watching our students use the newly installed 802.11n solution to tap into the media-rich content on the Internet." Aruba's mobility solutions securely deliver networks to users by integrating adaptive 802.11n wireless LANs, identity-based security, voice over Wi-Fi solutions, and multi-vendor network management into a cohesive, high-performance system. By automatically adapting the 802.11n network to accommodate user behavior, interference, and nearby networks, Aruba simplifies wireless LAN set-up and operation. Identity-based security protects the integrity of the network while providing unprecedented mobility for users. "School districts turn to Aruba because our networks are easy to use, offer best-in-class performance, and can be maintained with minimal IT overhead," said Robert Fenstermacher, Aruba's head of education marketing. "To reduce support overhead, our self-optimizing and standards-based design is interoperable with Centrino, Pentium, Apple, and other standard clients. Given the wide range of computers in use at schools, proven interoperability is a must." that users are always within reach of mission-critical information;
-- Identity-based security assigns access policies to users, enforcing
those policies whenever and wherever a network is accessed;
-- Remote networking solutions and fixed mobile convergence ensure
uninterrupted access to applications as users move;
-- Multi-vendor network management provides a single point of control
while managing both legacy and new wireless networks from Aruba and its
competitors.The cost, convenience, and security benefits of our secure mobility solutions are fundamentally changing how and where we work.
