Megola/MSE Enviro-Tech Announce Toxicity Test Results Show Hartindo AF31 Is Non-Toxic and Non-Irritating POINT EDWARD, ON--(MARKET WIRE)--Oct 16, 2008 -- Megola Inc. (Other OTC:MGOA.PK - News), in
collaboration with MSE Enviro-Tech Corp. (Other OTC:MEVT.PK - News)
(Frankfurt:MEH.F - News), is pleased to announce the results of
toxicity testing of Hartindo
AF31, a water-based, multi-purpose, fire extinguisher and
fire inhibitor.
The report shows that Hartindo AF31 is both non-toxic and
non-irritating
after standard toxicity tests were performed to evaluate
acute eye
irritation, acute dermal irritation, acute oral toxicity
and acute dermal
toxicity. With these results, Megola and MSE can now pursue National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and Underwriters' Laboratories (UL) approvals for Hartindo AF31, and the subsequent marketing and sales of the Hartindo AF31 line of products. "We are very happy with the results of the toxicity testing. Although the results confirmed what we already knew, the actual testing was a prerequisite for the approvals we require to market the Hartindo AF31 products in North America," states Joel Gardner, President and CEO of Megola Inc. About Hartindo AF31 In contrast to other common fire extinguishing agents, Hartindo AF31 will not cause eye, skin or lung irritation when used in a fire situation, affect visibility or require special techniques to combat fire. As a fire extinguishing agent, Hartindo AF31 does not have any of the drawbacks associated with other portable fire extinguishers. Hartindo AF31 is a water-based, environmentally friendly, multi-purpose, non-toxic and non-corrosive fire extinguisher and inhibitor. Brief Summary of Major Findings from the Study The acute eye irritation/corrosion test of Hartindo AF31 Fire Extinguisher-Inhibitor was classified as non-irritating in the New Zealand Albino rabbit 72 hours following test article instillation. Based on primary irritation index of 0.0, the irritating potential of Hartindo AF31 was found to be negligible in accordance with the Dermal Classification System. The acute oral LD50 in rats of Hartindo AF31 was found to be in excess of 2000 mg/kg. Therefore, it was determined that Hartindo AF31 did not present a significant acute toxic risk if swallowed. Hartindo AF31 can be classified as being a Category 5 chemical according to the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals in which the estimated LD50 is greater than 2000 mg/kg with no deaths or evidence of toxicity. The acute Dermal LD50 in New Zealand Albino rabbits of Hartindo AF31 was considered to be in excess of 2.0 g/kg body weight (the highest dosage used in the testing). The results of previous testing showed that Hartindo AF31 is relatively harmless to aquatic life in the event that it enters surface water sources (see http://biz.yahoo.com/iw/080104/0344826.html), and is also an effective fire inhibitor, preventing ignition of combustible material once applied (see http://biz.yahoo.com/iw/071214/0340339.html).
