PriceHub Delivers Price Transparency to Car Shoppers Web Community Provides Actual Sales Data for New and Used Vehicles; See What Other People Paid -- No More Estimates or Guesses! SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(MARKET WIRE)--Oct 7, 2008 -- PriceHub today unveiled PriceHub.com, a
web community aimed to bring price transparency to the car
buying and
selling process for new and used vehicles. By providing
an online database
of real prices from vehicle transactions, PriceHub helps
educate consumers
on fair and real market prices when buying, selling, or
trading in their
cars or trucks. For the first time, consumers have instant
access to over
17,000 real sales price data for new and used vehicles. PriceHub delivers accurate reference data to help consumers negotiate their vehicle transactions, set realistic pricing expectations, and establish confidence when determining buy, sell, or trade-in price. Additionally, PriceHub provides a forum for consumers to share and discuss the prices they paid/received, their buying/selling experience, and purchase/selling advice. By delivering price transparency, PriceHub closes the loop in the car shopping process by revealing a long-missing piece of the transaction -- the actual price paid. Founded in 2007 by two car enthusiasts who have collectively bought and sold over 30 vehicles, PriceHub was created to fulfill the need for a comprehensive, open source of actual selling prices for vehicles. While conducting research to prepare for their vehicle purchase or sale, the PriceHub founders realized that there was no true source to see what people really paid for a car. Instead, the only available data were the so-called published or estimated prices such as the MSRP price, invoice price, Kelly Blue Book price, Edmunds.com price, or trade-in value. The problem with these prices is that they are all estimates and not necessarily reflective of the real transaction price. PriceHub seeks to solve this problem by serving as the primary reference source and delivering price transparency via a growing database that includes historical pricing data for trend analysis. PriceHub first launched a public beta of PriceHub.com in November 2007. Since then, more than 17,000 real transaction prices have been submitted, representing more than more than 1,000 vehicle makes and models. Users can now search for prices and refine search results by geography, model year, mileage, condition, transaction date, packages/features, and transaction parties. PriceHub has already become an integral part of the research process for consumers. Randy Ziegler recently purchased a 2004 Mustang Cobra SVT and used PriceHub's database of Mustang prices to help determine the final price that he was willing to pay. "PriceHub gave me invaluable data on Mustang prices which I used in my negotiations with the dealer," said Ziegler. "Without the PriceHub data, I probably would have overpaid simply because the car had the color and options I wanted." Launched today, the new PriceHub.com unveils a "What's My Car Worth?" feature, which provides a quick snapshot of the actual selling price for a car. PriceHub site visitors will also experience an intuitive navigation, a robust search functionality, and instant car price analysis. With charts, graphs, data segmentation, and a customized search, PriceHub.com is a great resource for researching buying and selling a car. Please visit www.pricehub.com for more information.
