Route1 and Qwest Win Multi-Million Dollar Deal With US Department of Homeland Security TORONTO, ONTARIO and DENVER, COLORADO--(MARKET WIRE)--Oct 1, 2008 -- Route1 Inc. (CDNX:ROI.V - News) and Qwest Communications International
Inc. (Q - News) today announced they will deliver Route1's
highly secure identity
management and dynamic Virtual Private Network (VPN)
platform to the United States Customs and Border Protection
(CBP), a part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The initial three-year deal is valued in excess of $2 million
and is being delivered through Route1's reseller partner,
Qwest Government Services Inc. under the Washington Interagency
Telecommunications System (WITS) 2001 Crossover contract.
This agreement is the beginning of a multi-year implementation
and covers the license of a DEFIMNET(TM) with the first
500 TruOFFICE(TM)
subscriptions included. DHS has the option to acquire up
to 95,000 additional subscriptions for TruOFFICE and other
Route1 services over the life of the contract on the initial
hardware. DEFIMNET (DEFense Identity Management Network) is a scalable, high-availability identity and entitlement management infrastructure based on Route1's award-winning MobiNET(TM) technology. Under terms of the agreement, Route1 will support DEFIMNET for CBP and other DHS component agencies. As one of the objectives, the implementation of Route1's solutions will drive an overall virtualization and laptop reduction strategy currently being deployed throughout all levels of the US federal government. "This agreement will provide the Department of Homeland Security with industry-leading data security technology delivering mission-critical capabilities," said Andrew White, President and CEO of Route1. "The selection of Route1 is clear validation of our technical leadership in the global security and identity management market." The implementation and deployment of DEFIMNET is expected to occur in November 2008. Route1 delivers award-winning security and identity management solutions to customers world-wide.
