Bombardier Teams With City of Vancouver for Streetcar Demonstration During 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games

BOMBARDIER FLEXITY modern streetcars to provide demonstration service on new Olympic Line

BERLIN, GERMANY--(MARKET WIRE)--Sep 30, 2008 -- Bombardier Transportation announced today that it has signed a sponsorship agreement with the City of Vancouver to provide up to two BOMBARDIER FLEXITY Outlook streetcars for the City's Downtown Streetcar 2010 Demonstration Project during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Bombardier will also provide operations and maintenance services for the two, 32-metre long vehicles during a 60-day period of passenger service.

The FLEXITY Outlook streetcars will be on loan from the Brussels Transport Company (STIB), which operates a 68-vehicle fleet in Brussels, Belgium, previously supplied by Bombardier Transportation. In January 2008, STIB awarded Bombardier a contract for 87 additional FLEXITY Outlook vehicles.

FLEXITY Outlook vehicles feature street level access for all passengers, especially for those with limited mobility, wide doors, large windows, and a spacious interior. Over 450 FLEXITY Outlook vehicles are in successful revenue service in the cities of Linz (Austria), Lodz (Poland), Eskisehir (Turkey), Geneva (Switzerland), Marseille (France), Valencia and Alicante (Spain), as well as Innsbruck (Austria), and will soon be put in operation in Palermo (Italy), Augsburg and Krefeld (Germany).
