Avenda Systems eTIPS(R) Centrally Unifies Network Access Methods for Staff, Students and Administration

SANTA CLARA, CA--(MARKET WIRE)--Sep 30, 2008 -- Avenda Systems, the developer of the first true automated user access control (AUAC) solution announced that East Grand Rapids Public Schools (EGRPS) has selected their eTIPS platform to provide identity and resource management across the district. Not only does the solution help manage who can login into the network and what they can access; it also maximizes their use of any existing and future networking resources and directory stores.

EGRPS made their decision based on an infrastructure that is built with a strong conviction for open standards and the ability to easily incorporate new services as needed. Other solutions that they explored locked them into support for only one framework or were so far behind in regards to features that Avenda made the most sense.

"We were changing a few things in our network over the summer," said Jeff Crawford, Manager of Networking and Security at EGRPS, "and Avenda offered a very flexible solution that allowed us to incorporate the services that we needed most and phase in the remainder of the solution as our network came together."

Avenda's eTIPS platform provides a comprehensive solution that ensures that all users and devices are authenticated and proper access to network and server resources are assigned per login. Avenda's open standards approach requires no agent software and works in any networking or protocol environment, for example 802.1X, RADIUS, Cisco NAC, and Microsoft NAP or with any other networking vendor's equipment. eTIPS flexible management interface enables the use of intuitive service, policy and roles based management models to maintain network-wide compliance guidelines.

"We're pleased to add East Grand Rapids to our growing number of customers," said Krishna Prabhakar, CEO of Avenda Systems. "We have committed to providing them the best solution for controlling network access, and security policy enforcement with the flexible open standards approach required by the education market."

Avenda's participation in EDUCAUSE 2008 and future educational focused events is a direct result of customer requests for a platform that can support the move to more value focused open standards network deployments.
