Two Home Energy Efficiency Workshops Set for October 2-4 in Cheyenne
Wednesday September 17, 2008 1:21 am ET

CHEYENNE, WY--(MARKET WIRE)--Sep 17, 2008 -- Home energy efficiency is the focus for two regional workshops the first weekend of October. The "Wyoming Utility Efficiency Exchange" will be immediately followed by a "Home Energy Makeover Workshop & Expo" from October 2-4, 2008, at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Both events are hosted by the Wyoming Home Performance Alliance. Event sponsors include: Cheyenne Light, Fuel, & Power; Wyoming Rural Electric Association; Rocky Mountain Power; Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association; Electric and Gas Industries Association; and Convectair; with Apogee Interactive and Green Build Technology. Market Development Group is providing event management and logistical support.

The Wyoming Utility Efficiency Exchange will facilitate networking and professional development for the staff of energy utilities and allies throughout Wyoming and the Rocky Mountain region who are responsible for developing and implementing customer programs related to energy efficiency and renewable energy. Friday's all-day session will feature nationally recognized presenters and panelists from regional utility and energy organizations. Wyoming Public Service Commission Chair Kathleen "Cindy" Lewis has been invited to present the keynote address.

The Home Energy Makeover Workshop & Expo event acknowledges that all energy prices are rising and homeowners sometimes feel there is nothing they can do about it. The Wyoming Home Performance Alliance and event sponsors want Cheyenne-Laramie area homeowners to understand that home energy-saving improvements can pay for themselves. The sponsors hope the consumer workshop will encourage area homeowners to proactively install home energy-saving improvements obtained from local retailers. "Homeowners seeking long-term durable solutions to energy and comfort issues will meet reputable professionals and qualified installers who can help them develop a comprehensive strategy and implement durable cost-effective improvements," said Tiger Adolf. Adolf organized the Wyoming Home Performance Alliance and is Executive Director of Wyoming Energy Council.

Saturday's fast-moving workshop agenda includes brief presentations on home energy efficiency and renewable energy topics in the same room as displays from local providers of energy efficiency products and services. Admission is $15 per person at the door; but select non-profit community groups are selling advance admission tickets for just $10. The fund-raising groups include: University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service; Interfaith - Good Samaritan; Laramie Rivers Conservation District and Laramie Head Start.
