NEW YORK, NY--(MARKET WIRE)--Sep 11, 2008 -- Cabbage Patch Kids celebrated their 25th birthday with coast-to-coast celebration and a kick-off party at Toys"R"Us Times Square.

These "Kids" swept the nation 25 years ago and are about to do it again -- for the first time in 25 years, the original 1983 Cabbage Patch Kids are available now for a limited time only. The new commemorative 25th Anniversary "Kids" will have the same cute faces, clothing and names as the originals.

Chief Toy Officer Elizabeth Werner, joined by her very own first Cabbage Patch Kid, discussed how these "Kids" became a part of American culture. They've been on the space shuttle, the U.S. postage stamp, the Today Show, the cover of Newsweek, and have even been the U.S. Team Mascots for the Summer Olympics twice.

Nearly everyone has stories about how and when they "adopted" their first Cabbage Patch Kids -- and this event allows everyone to re-live all those wonderful memories. Cabbage Patch fans can celebrate their memories on a special anniversary website devoted to Cabbage Patch parents.
