Timed to coincide with the thirtieth anniversary of the Iranian Revolution and to precede the 2008 presidential election, the Conference will address significant political issues facing Los Angeles, the United States and Israel. The full-day Conference will feature a broad range of political and Jewish leaders, including Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Congressman Henry Waxman, Congressman Brad Sherman, former Congressman Mel Levine, radio host Dennis Prager, former Beverly Hills Mayor Jimmy Delshad, California State Assemblymember Joel Anderson, Simon Wiesenthal Founder Rabbi Marvin Hier, Malcolm Hoenlein of the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations, Consul General of Israel Jacob Dayan, Patrick Clawson of The Washington Institute, and many other notable figures. Over fifty Jewish organizations and businesses are sponsoring the conference, which will feature an opening plenary, four panel discussions, a voter registration drive, a community-wide reception, and a keynote gala dinner. "After thirty years in the United States, Iranian American Jews are finding in their identities great pride and responsibility," said 30 Years After President and Co-Founder Sam Yebri. "The community, as evidenced by this conference, is embracing that responsibility to be leading participant in the American political system and to translate its Jewish values into civic activism." 30 Years After was created in 2007 by a group of three-dozen Iranian Jewish young professionals with a mission to educate and unite the Iranian-American Jewish Community on important political issues; to give voice to and promote the participation of Iranian Jews in American political and civic life; and to enhance the involvement of Iranian Jews in the broader American Jewish community.
