Implements New Document Security and Controls; Safeguards Critical Information; and Helps Government Organizations Comply With HSPD12 and CAC

FREMONT, CA--(MARKET WIRE)--Sep 2, 2008 -- ActivIdentity Corporation (ACTI - News), a global leader in digital identity assurance, today announced ActivIdentity ActivClient Smart Card technology is available to customers at the U.S. Department of Defense using select HP multifunction printers (MFPs).

In particular, the ActivClient solution embedded in selected HP MFPs presents the U.S. Department of Defense with the ability to increase security and document control. Requiring employees to verify identity upon access to the MFP, or to MFP features and functions, HP MFPs with ActivIdentity ActivClient safeguard printed and scanned documents, and provide the added convenience and secure identification of e-mail signing directly from the MFP. The ActivClient solution used with HP MFPs is currently enabled to work with the Common Access Card program (CAC) for the U.S. Department of Defense.

"Our relationship with HP helps customers reduce security risks associated with multiple users sharing the same printing resources, a common practice in the workplace and one that risks sensitive information easily falling into the wrong hands," said Simon Wakely, Vice President of Business Development at ActivIdentity. "HP MFPs embedding ActivIdentity ActivClient enable federal government organizations to immediately and efficiently comply with both the Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 (HSPD-12), and Common Access Card Program (CAC), standardizing the identity solutions that government employees use to access potentially sensitive information."

"HP is committed to helping customers optimize their infrastructure, manage their environment and improve business workflows," said Tracy Freeman, director of engineering, global enterprise business, HP. "By working with ActivIdentity, we can enhance document security and control with Smart Card identification across an established customer base within the federal government."
