away and Fairplex is bursting at the seams with all the

no better way to beat the back-to-school blues than to take
the whole
family to this over-the-top Fair-tastic assortment of 487
different things
to do! The L.A. County Fair is going to the dogs with the new Bark Park, a fur-flying fun exhibit perfect for dog-lovers of any age (only for human consumers, please leave the dogs at home). Bark Park will feature a puppy fashion show, the Soccer Collies, the Extreme Canines Stunt Dog Show and designer dog houses up for sale. Eye patches will abound with the new A Pirate's Life attraction, which features a comedy pirate show and Cap'n Calico Jack's Pirate Academy where kids can learn how to talk like a pirate as well as dig for buried treasure and hidden booty. By keeping environmental issues at the forefront the L.A. County Fair continues the Going Green: Making a World of Difference exhibit that focuses on green living, and educates kids and adults alike about the advantages of solar power, energy-efficient cars and planet-friendly products. Thrill-seekers will be glad to hear that the L.A. County Fair's Carnival features 70 exciting rides. Of course, families will also enjoy the wide variety of animals the Fair has to offer whether it's at FairView Farms or the Pig Races. Wine and spirits enthusiasts can taste the winners of this year's Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits Competition. Foodies will revel in the abundance of gourmet and not-so gourmet fried food cuisine and competitions. Art lovers will enjoy the Millard Sheets Center for the Arts at Fairplex, while music buffs can enjoy a wonderful line-up of concerts at the Grandstand stage throughout the duration of the Fair. The do-it-yourself crowd will appreciate the pottery studio, scrapbooking lessons, the knitting lounge and quilting workshops. New this year, the Flower & Garden Pavilion will allow Fairguests to "Escape to Hawaii" with an erupting volcano, lei making and hula dancing lessons. The L.A.
