Utilities Software Eases Windows Operating System Customization

BOSTON, MA--(MARKET WIRE)--Aug 26, 2008 -- TuneUp, makers of award-winning PC utility software, today announced that two PC personalization tools are available within its TuneUp Utilities 2008 suite. TuneUp Styler and TuneUp System Control allow computer users to customize the look and feel of their Windows(TM) operating system. With more than 400 options, the utilities software guides both novice and advanced PC users through an intuitive, step by step process to change settings far beyond the desktop and screensaver. TuneUp Utilities 2008 also monitors all Windows tweaks and provides easy 'undo' functions through TuneUp Rescue Center.

"Computers are as much a part of our lives as the clothes we wear, and people want their personalities reflected on screen as they do through their wardrobe. Until now, only tech-savvy users could customize their PCs," said Tibor Schiemann, managing director of TuneUp. "With TuneUp Utilities 2008, anyone can bring their favorite colors, custom icons and an infinite array of other 'personality' to their computer. Users have a whole host of options to quickly tailor almost anything in Windows, such as the boot screen, logon screen, start menu, task bar and animations, with the security of the software's Rescue Center."

TuneUp Styler

TuneUp Utilities 2008 allows computer users to change the look of the windows, buttons and icons, the boot screen and the logon screen with TuneUp Styler. The PC tool also enables consumers to rename elements, such as the recycle bin, My Computer or Network Neighborhood. In addition, TuneUp Styler makes it possible to swap all Windows symbols in one lot by using ready-to-install or downloadable icon packages.

TuneUp System Control

The most comprehensive module of TuneUp Utilities 2008, TuneUp System Control serves as the central PC control station for customization. Users can select the appropriate subcategories, including "Display," "Usage," "Communication," "Administration" and "Wizards," to adjust the behavior of their Windows operating system, and to customize optical effects and the display of folders in Explorer, mouse and keyboard options, the start menu and the task bar. TuneUp System Control can also modify performance, security and privacy options for consumers' Internet browser and email programs and system settings such as boot up, logon and system paths.

TuneUp Utilities not only enables computer users to give their PCs a makeover with its "Customize Windows" tools, but it also provides them with a complete Windows optimization package. Within a single interface, consumers can fine-tune their PCs using the software's other utility options, including "Increase Performance," "Free Up Disk Space," "Maintain Windows," "Solve Problems" and "Other Tools." A free 30-day trial version of the award-winning TuneUp Utilities 2008 is available for download at http://www.tune-up.com. The full version, with updates of the help databases and functionality, as well as no time restrictions, costs $49.95. Upgrades from previous versions can be downloaded for $29.95.
