RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA--(MARKET WIRE)--Aug 20, 2008 -- Lighting technology innovator Kumho Electric announced today that it has started shipping its Econergy line of induction lighting. Introduced at Lightfair 2008 in Las Vegas, the bulb-style Econergy induction lamps are available in a wide range of wattages -- from 40W all the way to 250W -- and incorporate a number of best-in-class features.

Induction lamps do not use filaments, but rather an induction coil or electrode-less antenna. Light is created when the energy generated by the coil creates ultraviolet radiation which, in turn, excites the fluorescent powder coating on the inner surface of the glass bulb.

The result is a bright light that far outlasts filament-based lamps. With a rated life of over 100,000 hours, Econergy is ideal for applications where fixtures are hard to reach, whether outdoors, like street lighting, or indoor applications, like warehouses. The lower replacement rate slashes maintenance costs by several factors.
