TORONTO--(MARKET WIRE)--Jul 24, 2008 -- Diamant Corporation (OTC BB:DIAAF.OB - News) is pleased to announce that according to an Industry Study named "Degradable Plastic to 2010," the demand for degradable plastic in the US is forecasted to expand nearly 17 percent yearly to 500 million pounds in 2010, valued at $610 million, as reported by Freedonia research company, a well known and respected research group. These conclusions are based on a more competitive pricing structure, high feedstock costs for petroleum-based polymers, and growing environmental, governmental and consumer initiatives for greater use of sustainable resources. Degradable plastic applications are also being expanded by enhanced performance properties brought about by more sophisticated polymerization and blending techniques. Testing and certification standards have also been established for many types of degradable plastics, with growing pressures to limit packaging waste and further develop a composting infrastructure.

As Diamant's new biodegrading additive nears the completion of their final trials, Diamant nears completion of the evaluation of the market for nationwide distribution. As previously announced, the additive has been successfully tested in Europe and determined that it will render plastic PET bottles biodegradable.

Diamant's revolutionary plastics additive is currently available to plastic bag manufacturers. As that product is beginning to experience demand, the bottling additive will be soon available for distribution in the United States, Canada and Europe. The bottling additive, which is made up of a proprietary material will be blended into polyethylene terephthalate (PET), the plastic used in water bottle manufacturing, has the capability of giving an exceptional glass-like clarity and gloss will now be able to become bio-degradable. PET bio-degradable bottles and containers can now be used to package a range of shelf-stable products, including salsas, pasta and barbecue sauces, tomato ketchups, similar steak and table hot sauces, jams, jellies, juices, and bottled beverages such as sodas and water.
