Fisher Communications Confirms Expiration of KOMO 1000 Newsradio's Broadcast Agreement With the Seattle Mariners SEATTLE, WA--(MARKET WIRE)--Jul 22, 2008 -- Fisher Communications (NasdaqGM:FSCI - News) today
confirmed that KOMO 1000 Newsradio will no longer serve
as the Seattle
Mariners' radio broadcast partner following the current
season. KOMO 1000,
which is the most listened-to radio station in the Seattle-Tacoma
market,
entered into its six-year broadcast agreement with the Mariners
in 2002. Commenting on the Mariners announcement, Jim Clayton, KOMO Vice President and General Manager, said, "We are disappointed that we were unable to reach an acceptable agreement that would have allowed us to continue broadcasting the Mariners beyond the current season. We are proud of our association with the Mariners organization and we wish the team success in the future. Over the past six years, KOMO 1000 Newsradio has made a very successful transition to an all-news format, which has made the station Seattle's trusted source for up-to-the-minute news, weather and traffic information." Colleen B. Brown, Fisher Communications President and Chief Executive Officer, added, "We continue to be very pleased with KOMO Newsradio's performance and believe that the station is well-positioned for future growth. While we would have liked to have found a way to extend our agreement with the Mariners, this change will provide the Company added financial flexibility to build on KOMO 1000's all-news format, including identifying opportunities to expand the strategic relationship between KOMO 4 News and KOMO 1000 Newsradio."
