SUNNYVALE, CA--(MARKET WIRE)--Jul 21, 2008 -- Aruba Networks, Inc. (ARUN - News), a global leader in adaptive wireless LANs and secure unified mobility solutions, today announced that it is supplying secure wireless equipment to PCCW-HKT Network Services Limited (PCCW) for use at roughly 2,000 new Wi-Fi hot spots serving some 350 Hong Kong Government premises. PCCW, the premier telecommunications provider in Hong Kong and one of Asia's leading players in information and communications technologies, will be the network service provider.

Under the "GovWiFi" program, the citizens of Hong Kong and foreign visitors will be provided with free high-speed Wi-Fi internet access at some 350 Hong Kong Government premises, including at least three public parks, for the next five years. When completed, the network will include thousands of Aruba access points as well as multiple Multi-Service Mobility Controllers located at redundant PCCW network operations centers. More than 30 government premises were commissioned in late March, with the remainder slated for installation before the middle of 2009.

"The scope and purpose of the network means it must be easy to manage and troubleshoot, offer robust security to protect privacy and data integrity, and run 24 x 7," said Larry Wong, PCCW's Director of Marketing and Products, Commercial Group. "These requirements are all key attributes of Aruba's secure mobility architecture and made the solution well suited for the project."

Aruba's networks are known for their ease-of-use, security, and robustness. The centralized management architecture allows networks of virtually any size to be monitored, modified, and maintained from primary and back-up network operations centers. Integrated security and wireless intrusion prevention features, in conjunction with Aruba's bandwidth control capability, protect the integrity of the network. Aruba's Adaptive Radio Management (ARM) technology automatically optimizes wireless LAN performance, delivering a good user experience by automatically adapting the network to accommodate user behavior, interference, and nearby networks.

"The Hong Kong Government has long been at the forefront of information and communications technology implementations, and GovWiFi is no exception," said Mike Guo, Aruba's Vice President of Asia Pacific. "PCCW has a storied history as Hong Kong's leading service provider and a global telecommunications provider, while Aruba has fielded some of the world's largest secure wireless LAN infrastructure projects. Partnered together we offer a peerless service provider package that is tailor-made for the GovWiFi program. We look forward to a successful rollout over the coming months."
