US Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid Speaks With Filmmaker Rob Reiner
Wednesday May 14, 4:58 pm ET

LOS ANGELES, CA--(MARKET WIRE)--May 14, 2008 -- The Honorable Harry Reid, United States Senator, Nevada (D) and Senate Majority Leader, will speak with Rob Reiner, activist and filmmaker, on Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at UCLA's James Bridges Theater as a part of TOWN HALL's ongoing Writers Bloc series.

Reid will discuss his autobiography, "The Good Fight: Hard Lessons from Searchlight to Washington." In his book, Reid presents a narrative tale of Washington politics interspersed with the story of his own life, during which he describes his impoverished rural childhood, his dangerous stint at the head of Nevada's Gaming Commission and his decades in Congress.

Reid has served in the US Senate since 1986, where he has held the positions of Senate Democratic Whip and Minority Whip. Currently, he is a member of the Select Committee on Intelligence, and the Committee on Rules and Administration.

Reiner, known for directing successful films in the 1980s and 90s, is also a contributing blogger to The Huffington Post. In 1998, Reiner chaired the campaign to pass Prop 10, the California Children and Families Initiative, which created First 5 California. He served as Chairman of First 5 California from 1999 to 2006.

Throughout its 70-year history, TOWN HALL has hosted discussions with notable authors such as Carl Sagan and Ray Bradbury. This year, TOWN HALL's Writer's Bloc welcomed political commentator Michael Kinsley, and welcomes back Gore Vidal on June 24.
