Resolute Networks Teams With Pannaway to Deliver Mobile Backhaul Solution
Tuesday April 22, 2008 10:27 am ET

MODI'IN, ISRAEL and PORTSMOUTH, NH--(MARKET WIRE)--Apr 22, 2008 -- Resolute Networks Ltd. and Pannaway Networks today announced the successful integration of Resolute's carrier-grade CMX-1614 Circuit Emulation Service (CES) gateway into Pannaway's recently announced Broadband Access Switch (BAS)-150. The BAS-150 has been designed specifically to address business services as well as backhaul services for mobile operators. Resolute Networks' CES gateway enables service providers to establish "virtual wires" for the transport of traditional TDM services along the same cost-effective, high performance, converged Ethernet transmission path.

The Resolute CMX-1614 module is a fully integrated Circuit Emulation Services (CES) gateway designed to implement circuit emulation functionality in multi-service packet-switching equipment such as Pannaway's BAS 150. Fully IETF standards-based, the CMX-1614 supports circuit emulation over Ethernet via Pseudowire Emulation Edge to Edge (PWE3) including both SAToP (Structure Agnostic Transport over Packet) and CESoPSN (Circuit Emulation Service over Packet Switched Network). It is fully interoperable with other PWE3 compliant devices, and backwards compatible with Pannaway's existing line of products.

According to Pannaway president, Mark Carpenter, "Pannaway's customers are looking to leverage the new Ethernet transport systems they are building while continuing to deliver high value legacy services to their customers such as mobile operators. Second, they want to do these things in a standards based way. We felt we needed to address this market quickly and found that the solution offered by Resolute enabled us to rapidly implement a standards-compliant TDM over Packet (TDMoP) solution with no software development and minimal hardware design effort."

Speed to market has always been one of Resolute's key objectives. The CMX product line enables vendors like Pannaway to integrate CES & PWE3 functionality in a very short period of time. The CMX-1614 features a high performance multiplexing function capable of combining Fast Ethernet user traffic with emulated TDM circuits over a Fast Ethernet service uplink, guaranteeing CES stream bandwidth and priority.

"Pannaway's introduction of the BAS-150 marks an extremely important milestone for wireless operators in their evolution to Ethernet backhaul," stated Brian Bortz, Chief Executive Officer of Resolute Networks. "The combination of Resolute's CES-module with Pannaway's award-winning Service Convergence (SCN(TM)) Architecture creates a compelling mobile backhaul solution."
