Huntington's Therapeutics Reviewed by NeuroInvestment CARDIFF, CA--(MARKET WIRE)--Apr 2, 2008 -- NI Research has released the April issue of
NeuroInvestment. The issue features a review of Huntington's,
a disorder
whose monogenic cause and inexorable, horrific course has
made it the
premier example of why people choose to not have genetic
testing. There is
at present no approved treatment, though a symptomatic treatment
aimed at
choreiform movement, Prestwick Pharmaceuticals' tetrabenazine,
is likely to
be approved by the FDA. The contents of the April NeuroInvestment include:
1) Huntington's programs covered in the review include those from
Medivation, Avicena Group, Cortex (AMEX:COR - News), EnVivo, Ceregene,
and Accera.
2) A review of Neurocrine Biosciences (NasdaqGS:NBIX - News), whose formerly
robust pipeline has suffered with the indiplon debacle and the
failure of the first CRF antagonist trial, run by partner GSK.
3) 'Honey. I Shrunk the Phase II': Commentary about the growing trend
towards miniaturized Phase II programs, and why it is a bad idea.
Examples cited include programs from Astra Zeneca, Medivation,
Neurochem, Neuro-Hitech, Baxter, Corcept, and D-Pharm.
4) An appraisal of the vigabatrin anti-addiction program being run by
Catalyst Pharmaceuticals.About NeuroInvestment: NeuroInvestment is the independent, monthly review of the neurotherapeutics area. A one-year corporate subscription is $1600, email or hardcopy.
