Video and Other Advanced Service Expansions Have Cisco Shipping More Than 1,800 CRS-1 Routers to Date

SAN JOSE, CA--(MARKET WIRE)--Apr 1, 2008 -- Cisco (NasdaqGS:CSCO - News) today announced a major sales milestone for the industry-leading Carrier Routing System (CRS-1), the core platform for the Cisco® Internet Protocol Next-Generation Network (IP NGN) architecture. Driven by increased network, service and application convergence to facilitate delivery of video services, total worldwide cumulative shipments of this platform have doubled in less than nine months, rising from a total of 900 units shipped through June 2007 to more than 1,800 units shipped through March 2008.

"Exponential traffic growth on the Internet -- driven largely by increased deployment of video services -- is causing more and more providers to rethink their core architectures," said Michael Howard, principal analyst at Infonetics Research.
