LOS ANGELES, CA--(MARKET WIRE)--Mar 21, 2008 -- With well over 1 million Australians living abroad, AUSTRALIAN IDOL is on the search for talented ex-pats, and has set Sunday, April 13 as the official U.S. audition date for 2008 season hopefuls -- those talented Australians who are living and working overseas in the United States. Auditions for the new season of AUSTRALIAN IDOL will take place at the legendary Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard, with doors opening promptly at 8:30 am and closing at 5:00 pm. Interested performers are encouraged to pre-register to ensure their spot at the auditions on April 13.

In Los Angeles, the search is on to find Australian citizens who have left our shores to chase their showbiz dreams, as well as Aussies who have headed off on other career paths but who might be looking for a new challenge that could bring them back home to Australia for the 2008 competition.

AUSTRALIAN IDOL wants to give as many Australians as possible the chance to be part of this entertainment phenomenon. Over the past 5 years AUSTRALIAN IDOL has created a fantastic platform for many singers who have gone on to become "household names" Down Under. Whether through singing, acting or TV presenting, AUSTRALIAN IDOL is proud of its talent heritage and history-making record sales.

As series 6 takes shape there'll be no stopping the IDOL audition trail as it weaves its way around the world, with stops throughout Australia, in London and Los Angeles.

In Los Angeles, those talented individuals who make the first "cut" at the April 13 auditions, will move on to filmed auditions with AUSTRALIAN IDOL judge Kyle Sandilands, who will be joined by two celebrity judges on L.A.'s Venice Beach. Those who remain standing at the end of this round of judging will be flown to Sydney to compete in Season 6 of AUSTRALIAN IDOL.
