Wednesday October 3, 2007 1:34 pm ET

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(MARKET WIRE)--Oct 3, 2007 -- Freewest Resources Canada Inc. (CDNX:FWR.V - News)

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Deepest drilling to date at Clarence Stream intersects significant gold mineralization between the 200 and 300-metre level; all zones remain completely open-ended at depth and along strike

- Intercepts include 6.59 g/t gold over 7.00 metres, 3.57 g/t gold over 7.00 metres and 3.04 g/t gold over 6.00 metres

Mackenzie I. Watson, President and CEO of Freewest Resources Canada Inc. (FWR: TSX-V) (the "Company"), is pleased to announce the complete results of a deep drilling program, recently completed on it's Clarence Stream property (the "Property"). The wholly-owned Property consists of 11,296 hectares and is located close to infrastructure, 70 kilometres southwest of the City of Fredericton in south-western New Brunswick.

The objective of this recent phase of drilling was to test the deeper levels of the gold-bearing system at vertical depths ranging from 200 to 300 metres, in the Central Zone locale. Specifically, it tested a small portion of a 2000 metre-long high-strain zone that hosts the Central Zone and a number of other gold deposits, known as the proximal deposits. The complete results of the drilling are as follows:

Highlighting the drilling results are intercepts of 6.59 g/t gold over 7.00 metres, 47.28 g/t gold over 2.00 metres (earlier reported in Freewest news release of August 8, 2007) as well as 3.04 g/t gold over 6.00 metres and 6.90 g/t gold over 2.00 metres. Gold mineralization occurs in quartz veins and stock-work hosted within deformed gabbro and microgranite dikes and sills, intruding biotite-cordierite hornfels. The gold zone defined by the deep drilling program remains completely open at depth and along strike.

A longitudinal section illustrating the location and gold tenor of the deep gold zone comprise part of this news release and can be viewed on the website at www.freewest.com. Click here to view section.

CURRENT AND FUTURE WORK:

Diamond drilling will continue to text the proximal gold deposits at vertical depths of 200 to 300 metres, utilizing 50 to 100-metre step-outs in relation to the recently completed drill holes, with the objective of expanding the dimensions of the gold zones to ultimately increase their contained gold resource. A primary goal of the Company at Clarence Stream is to update the 43-101 compliant mineral resource estimate from the early 2006 Roscoe Postle Associates calculation. It is anticipated that an updated mineral resource will be available in late 2007 or early 2008.

Glen Lutes, P. Geo. (New Brunswick) is the qualified person on-site at the Clarence Stream property. Donald Hoy, P. Geo. (Ontario) Vice President of Exploration and a Director of Freewest Resources Canada Inc. is responsible for the preparation of this news release.
