September 21st at 1:00 PM ET. Targeted to decision
makers in the municipal governments of NLC's 1,600 member
cities, the
Webcast's panel of experts will discuss transportation demand
management
(TDM) methods of reducing congestion. The discussion will
include how to
create, fund, and manage commuter alternative programs (i.e.
rideshare,
telework, transit) with a special emphasis on the experience
of cities that
have deployed TDM solutions to reduce highway congestion,
vehicle
emissions, and fuel usage. "Local elected officials consistently rank transportation congestion as one of their most pressing challenges, due largely to the frustrating waste of time for their citizens," said Donald J. Borut, NLC's Executive Director. "We welcome the opportunity to use NLC TV to provide this important information on Transportation Demand Management, which has such a strong impact on quality of life in cities."
