Norway's top telecommunications carrier is navigating the slippery slopes of competition as it expands outside its home country. Telenor dominates the Norwegian market with millions of fixed-line and mobile subscribers. Additionally, the company provides Internet access and offers satellite and cable TV services. Holding stakes in more than a dozen mobile operators outside the country and about 143 million subscribers overall, it is among the ten largest mobile providers in the world. Outside of the Nordic region, Telenor serves customers throughout Europe and in Asia (primarily Thailand). Telenor's infrastructure includes transatlantic undersea fiber-optic cables, satellite connections, and a wireless network.
