Anshan Iron and Steel Group, established in 1948, is one of China's largest producers of steel and metal products. The company operates through some 30 subsidiaries (including Angang Steel), six large iron ore mines, and four iron ore dressing, one iron-making, three steel-making, and more than a dozen steel-rolling plants. It produces about 16 million tons of steel products and another 16 million tons of iron ore annually. Anshan's steel unit is focused on producing high-end products such as electroplated, color-coated, and silicon flat steel products used to make car bodies and computer and telecomm equipment. Among its customers are both the German and Chinese iterations of Volkswagen.
