Lonza Group stays busy making active ingredients. Spun off by Switzerland's former industrial giant Alusuisse Lonza Group (Algroup), Lonza Group is focused mostly on research and production for pharmaceutical and chemical firms. It is a contract manufacturer of the advanced intermediates and active ingredients used in drugs. Lonza also is active in biotechnology: It uses microbial fermentation and biotransformation to produce fine chemical intermediates and is involved in mammalian cell culture research. It also produces organic fine chemicals and performance chemicals (biocides and oleochemicals).
