Itaú Unibanco (formerly Banco Itaú) is one way of saying "really big bank." The Brazilian bank offers a variety of standard retail and commercial banking services as well as consumer credit, financial management, leasing, foreign exchange, and trade financing. It is one of the largest credit card issuers in Brazil. Itaú Unibanco also provides investment banking, securities brokerage, and insurance. In addition to its more than 3,900 branches in Brazil, the company has operations in other South America countries and in North America, Asia, and Europe. The bank has used acquisitions to expand its presence abroad, as well as at home. The company merged with Unibanco in 2009.
