Planes soar off production lines more easily than Embraer-Empresa Brasileira de Aeronáutica flies off the tongue. Better known as Embraer, the company is one of the world's largest aircraft manufacturers, along with Airbus, Boeing, and Bombardier; Embraer ranks behind only Bombardier in regional aircraft. Embraer primarily makes jets and turboprops that seat 21-116 passengers. The company also serves military markets -- mainly the Brazilian Air Force -- with transport, light attack, and surveillance aircraft. Embraer makes more than half of its sales in the Americas, and it is rapidly increasing its customer base outside Europe and the Americas.
