Take a seasoned blend of Mexican food and general merchandise stores, sprinkle with some restaurants, and olé -- you have Controladora Comercial Mexicana (CCM), a leading retailer in Mexico in terms of sales. CCM owns and operates about 215 stores and 75 restaurants throughout Mexico, mostly in the central region. Some 70 Mega hypermarkets account for more than a third of CCM's sales. Other retail outlets include about 55 Comercial Mexicana food and general merchandise stores, some 40 Bodega CM discount warehouses, and about a dozen Sumesa upscale supermarkets. CCM also runs about 30 warehouse clubs in a joint venture with US-based Costco Wholesale Corporation.
