The company's primary subsidiary, Severn Trent Water, provides water and wastewater utility services to 3.7 million residential, commercial, and industrial customers (more than 8 million people) in the UK. The company has spun off or sold nonregulated businesses such as waste management company Biffa , which operated in the UK and Belgium, and the laboratory unit of environmental testing company Severn Trent Services, in order to focus on its core water and water technologies businesses.
