Other activities include securities trading, asset-based financing for small to midsized businesses in the UK and Germany, and deposit and treasury services. It also owns small- and mid-cap market-maker Winterflood Securities. In 2009 the company sold its Close Brothers Corporate Finance unit to Japan's Daiwa Securities for £75 million ($115 million).
