Endesa provides power to 23 million worldwide (50% Spanish customers). Spain's #1 electric utility has a generating capacity of 49,200 MW from nuclear, fossil-fueled, hydroelectric, and renewable energy plants. Endesa is also the primary electricity company in Chile, Argentina, Colombia and Peru and is also present in Brazil. It is a major player in the energy sector of the Mediterranean region, especially Italy, and it is active in other countries across Europe. Endesa serves some 375,000 natural gas customers in Spain. The company is also investing heavily in renewable energy plants. Italian power giant Enel owns more than 92% of Endesa.
