Toro Assicurazioni has been the same old bull since it was founded in 1833. Toro Assicurazioni sells personal and commercial automobile, life, health, and fire insurance coverage to individuals, professionals, and small businesses. Its operating subsidiaries include Nuova Tirrena, Augusta Assicurazioni, and Toro Targa and its products are distributed through some 400 agencies. As Italy's government pension program changes, private insurers, including Toro Assicurazioni, are stepping up to offer supplemental retirement benefits. Assicurazioni Generali gained control of the company in late 2006 when it acquired De Agostini's two-thirds stake.
