Toro Assicurazioni has been the same old bull since it was founded in 1833. Toro Assicurazioni sells personal and commercial automobile, life, health, and fire insurance coverage to individuals, professionals, and small businesses. Its operating subsidiaries include Nuova Tirrena, Augusta Assicurazioni, and Toro Targa and its products are distributed through some 400 agencies. As Italy's government pension program changes, private insurers, including Toro Assicurazioni, are stepping up to offer supplemental retirement benefits. The company is a subsidiary of Assicurazioni Generali, which plans to merge Toro with another unit, life insurance firm Alleanza Assicurazioni.
