TUI Travel wants to be the first stop on a leisure traveler's journey. The company, which operates under multiple brands in about 180 countries, provides worldwide tour and travel services through divisions devoted to mainstream, specialist, and activity holidays, as well as online distribution of hotel rooms and other services for travel businesses. TUI Travel maintains about 3,500 retail travel stores throughout Europe, plus a fleet of more than 150 aircraft. The company was formed in 2007 when Germany's TUI bought UK-based First Choice Holidays and combined the company with its own tourism arm under the TUI Travel name. TUI, also a major container shipping company, owns 51% of TUI Travel.
