CRH is an old-fashioned brick-and-mortar business. Through several subsidiaries, the company makes and distributes cement, concrete, aggregate, glass, and asphalt building materials and products throughout Western Europe and North America. Its products are used for commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects. The company also operates about 1,000 wholesale and retail building supplies stores with names including Professional Builders Merchants, GAMMA, BricoHouse, and Allied Building Products. CRH is Ireland's top cement supplier, with more than half of the market share. The group increasingly operates in emerging markets in Asia, Eastern Europe, and South America, which represents some 15% of sales.
