Follow the bouncing balls -- all the way to Finland. That's where Amer Sports makes sporting goods equipment, including balls for tennis, golf, and team sports under the Wilson brand. It also makes skiing equipment (Atomic, Dynamic) and snowboards (Atomic, Oxygen). The company's Wilson-brand tennis racquets and golf clubs give it the most bucks for its bang, but items for team sports (basketballs, footballs, baseball gloves, and the like) also contribute to Amer's bottom line. In addition, the company makes Koflach mountaineering boots and produces wrist-top computers, diving instruments, and fitness equipment through its subsidiaries. Amid falling profits Amer has said it may spin off its cycling business.
