Its surgical group is the largest maker of equipment used for cataract removal and laser vision correction. Alcon's pharmaceuticals include glaucoma treatments, anti-infectives, and allergy relievers. Its consumer products include the well-known Opti-Free line of contact lens solutions and related products. Alcon sells its products in 180 countries worldwide. Nestlé owns about 50% the company, which was founded in 1945, while pharmaceutical manufacturer Novartis owns about 25%.
